Jocotes (pronounced hoe-ko-tes) are a unique mouth-watering fruit of the Cashew Family, native to tropical America.

The name Jocote derives from the Aztec word  "xoxotl", and carries many beneficial properties. 

We have been blessed by the most magnificent trees here in this village in the highlands of Lake Atitlán. The village is known as, guess what:

We make our jams from the Corona, a royal variety of attractive deep red color.

They have a massive pit covered by only a few millimetres of wondrous delicious flesh, and when walking through the market, their red shiny skin makes it almost impossible to pass by without buying a few (dozen) pounds.


After the purchase, before even leaving the stand, you'll find you've already eaten a handful, and your arms and sleeves will be yes, all sticky, but no, you won't mind. In fact -- you'll be delighted.
