Coffee

GROWN BY MONKS

We are also coffee growers,

passionate pickers and attentive sorters.

And ok, some of us may be A LITTLE fanatical about coffee.

The monastery's land is situated in one of the:

- listen up -

Highest altitude coffee growing

areas in the world

(   )

yep.

Thanks to the altitude's colder, harsher, steep conditions and to the shade of massive avocado trees, the maturation of the coffee berries is slowed down, making it some of the most sought - after coffee in the coffee world.

Hi! we are Yǒngyuǎn, Xiǎolián, Gregorio, Frank, and

... well, many others.

We are coffee growers, living and practicing in a small temple and monastery on the volcanic Lake of Atitlán, in Guatemala.

We aim to ever perfect our green coffee to the highest artisanal level.
Shade-grown with meticulous care and always in respect to our beloved trees & lake, we have developed a uniquely aromatic specialty coffee that people

really. really. love.

A coffee that filled me with a full, peacefull feeling.. that.. i can't explain.

SHEENA, CORK, IRELAND

In a mountain temple and
monastery,
we farm thousands of
magnificent coffee trees,
organically at high altitude.

As monks
we train rigorously
in attention, precision, care, patience,
and contemplation,
and we carry our practice into what we do,

and into your cup of coffee.

Our Practice

OUR COFFEE

We wake before sunrise to begin each day,

and practice at least 7 hours of meditation throughout the day

We practice 4 hours each morning BEFORE working with your coffee.

Our day continues with meticulous care for the best beans you will ever taste.

Our Team

FACILITATORS

The Fongyi part of the story,

CREATIVE DIRECTOR, COFFEE STYLIST & BEAN HERDER,

responsible for design, graphics, presentation, packaging, and so on. Also responsible for all grammatical errors present in this site, off-topic comments and low level sense of humor.

An ex-Italian citizen, coffee-bean herder, wanna-be ninja, and carer of our online presence and social media.

The Gregorio part of the story,

RESOURCE MANAGER, COFFEE TREE STALKER & BREWOLOGIST

I still remember the first time Greg and I met, his eyes were wide open and he said: @/$Q#6!^%*. Still not sure what he meant.

He claims to be of south Italian descent. Apparently for millions of years his family has been tied to a legacy of coffee devotion... Some say that he has a secret collection of fossilized beans from the Jurassic era on his porch.

The Tongda part of the story,

THE OTHER RESOURCE AND PROJECT MANAGER & CHIEF-COFFEESMITH

T and I met in Asia's wild wild west: India.

We met in intensive meditation retreats around Asia, until our journeys brought us to Guatemala, where we discovered coffee to be the key to awakening... well, for hard mornings at least.

Yǒngyuǎn is Irish, by descent and by passion. He loves the rainy season and let's not one day pass without potatoes.

The end.
